"Father of Garrett County"
"Father of Garrett County"
Meshach Browning (1781-1859) was an early settler of western Maryland and a prolific hunter. His book, Forty-four Years of the Life of a Hunter, provides one of the best accounts of pioneer life in the Appalachian Mountains during the early 1800’s.
We are dedicated to preserving the legacy of Browning. Your contribution today helps us make a difference.
We are a community-based organization focused on preserving the legacy of Meshach Browning and helping others learn about him and pioneer-era of Garrett County through online and in-person exhibits and events.
Are you passionate about what we're doing? Let us know! We are always looking for volunteers to help us make our vision a reality. We'll help you find a way to volunteer that best suits you. We're excited to have you join the team!
